The Loop project gets a 6 month extension

By Patrick Scally - Executive Lead

It’s with great pleasure that I can announce that The Loop, Hackney’s first-of-its-kind circular economy hub has been extended for another 6 months. This extension of our meanwhile project will take us to May 2025 and comes off the back of us just reaching 100% occupancy. A deep thank you to Halcyon Development Partners for providing this extension which will enable our community to continue to grow and achieve our ambitions.

Upon commencement of this meanwhile project, we were acutely aware of the limitations that the timeframe we had placed on our demonstrator project. In 12 months we had to fit-out an empty warehouse, sell studio spaces, support a new community of businesses, engage local people, support innovation trials, gather data and secure more sites to support our mission. 6 months in we can say that collectively we’ve achieved a lot, but we still have a ways to go.

As discussed in previous blogs, from initial concept phase, to delivery phase, our understanding of the space has massively evolved. We are now more informed on what it takes to build hubs for certain sections of the circular economy, information we intend to use to refine future site strategies…more on this very soon.

So, what does this 6 month extension mean for you?

Well, we have an opportunities we’d like to share, that hopefully provide value to you:

We have a yard at the front of our building perfect for pop-up trucks and stalls. If you’re interested in selling sustainable products or consumables we want to hear from you. The weekends here in Hackney Wick are jam packed with people, so this is a great central location to sell your products. We simply ask for a £50 pitch fee, for longer term uses we will negotiate a fair rate with you personally.
